I hope this year I get a mirror, so I can see the look on my face as I open my gifts. Maybe that's something I should practice! That Gift Giving Spirit

The Damndest Damn Blog

Good morning!

Whassup, whassup? Happy holiday eve! Hope everyone has a great day tomorrow (or Kwanzaa on Saturday) – there WILL be a Rick the Stick tomorrwo, so if you have access to your email the day should start off well! ;-)

I watched ‘The Hangover‘ last night and I had heard mixed reviews. Overall, I thought it was a great movie – tons of surprises totally unpredictable. There were some uncomfortable moments, but very solid flick. Thanks to my brother who gave it to us!

I’ve been playing around with Grooveshark and I am having some fun with it. It’s seamless and has some great usability on the website. Not to mention the audio quality is pretty good. I don’t mind the ads and I appreciate the fact that I can create and save playlists. Pretty awesome stuff. I may cancel my Sirius account – the only reason I’m using it is to listen to Howard Stern.

I don’t know if you noticed – but there are some subtle differences around the site. For instance if you go to the home page and mouse your pointer over the comic, you’ll notice two things. First is that there is an image of Rick that hovers over the comic and adds some extra information about the strip – sometimes an extra punchline. If you get the comic in email, then you may notice only the punchline if you do the same thing (without the image of Rick). The second thing which is a new feature is that the comic shows a shadow glow – if you click and drag the comic, you will be able to share the comic through Facebook, Twitter, Yahoo!, email or Instant Messenger. You have to submit some of it (Yahoo and Instant Messenger) through Meebo, but it’s all free so it there you have it. I’m not sure if it’s active through email or RSS since it’s added functionality of the site – so we’ll see this AM if it works.

Here is what you should see when you mouse over the comic:

This is the image you should see when you mouse over the comic on the home page of the website. Notice Rick on the left and the shadowing around the comic.

Here is what you should see when you click and drag your mouse a little bit:

Your screen should turn dark gray and you should see icons that will allow you to drag the comic up to whichever social media website or email you want to use to help promote the comic.

Also, if you view the site in Explorer – you may have noticed the comic was jagged. That’s because after my vacation (starting November 16th) I changed how I export the comic when I’m done. It was much easier and saved me a bunch of time. When I create the comic, I create it in a larger format and the site automatically shrinks it down to fit. The problem is that Explorer renders the comic as jagged. Since I’d rather have the comic show up how I intended the quality – errr…100% mediocrity in all it’s glory – trumps a few seconds resizing the image. At least until I can figure out a work around. Or Explorer fixes…AHAHAHAHAHA! Who am I kidding? Explorer will never be fixed!!! Regardless, for those who were enjoying the larger format in their RSS and email, I apologize for any inconvenience, but you shouldn’t notice much of a difference. I even went back and resized the last five or six weeks to make sure it all looks good. If you have Explorer, let me know how it looks please – thanks in advance!

That being said, I’m looking forward to another long weekend – followed by another long weekend. Man, I am going to miss December!!! Have a safe and joyous holiday.

Thanks for dropping by!
Ken

Great strip today. Rick still Doesn’t get it, buts that’s part of what we love about him. I think a mirror would have Rick a little too occupied. :)

Mindy Manner looks great. I remember when you upgraded the Manner’s hands, but Mindy’s got a new nose and a few more curves for Christmas. Looks awesome as always.

Merry Christmas Eve Ken. Hope Santa treats you well this year.

      Thanks Todd!

Rick is really consumed with himself. I wonder if he works that out for the holiday…

Thanks about Mindy too. Like I said during the broadcast, since the male characters are either bumblers or nerdy, I want the females to be attractive. At least I’m trying!

Easy Todd, Mindy’s only 2 dimensional. :D . It seems Ricks got the true holiday spirit (or maybe he’ll be visited by 3 holiday spirits). Happy holidays everyone. Great strip Ken no if you could only draw

There’s just something about 2 dimensional women that have drove me crazy since my teenage years. Man I miss those huge Sears Roebucks ads. My mom was almost convinced I wanted to be a bras salesman. :)

Merry Christmas Ralonzo, I hope you and your family have a wonderful Holiday.

Raul, what’s the matter with little 2D lovin’? Don’t worry – while you’ve littered your wish list with things like Barbie Dolls and footie pajamas, I’ve asked for drawing skills for the holidays. ;-)

Ken, I’m using Chrome and the click and drag doesn’t create any popups for placing the strip into any Social Media link.

In IE, the strip does look better than it had in the past. The drag to social media works great in IE, just tested it out at 8:11AM CST.

Oooh, thanks! That’s good to know. Chrome probably will have it’s limitations for a little bit so that’s not totally unexpected.

Now, if we could just get rid of Explorer!!! :-)
