Good morning,
Okay, so I learned a valuable lesson with yesterday’s post.
By putting nothing in the blog area, the comic won’t show up in the email feed. My apologies – if you missed it, you can click here to see it. If you did see it, hopefully your obliques are recovered from laughing so hard! Haha!
Okay, good. Moving on. Got a really good piece of fan art courtesy of Kyler McElmurry check it out. And he’s 23 years old. Give or take 20 years. Okay, I’m just teasing, he’s really talented for age 3 so hopefully we get more from Kyler!!
Kyler McElmurry's Famous Version of Rick the Stick – I see potential genius and I like this kid's style.
Seriously folks, I think he owes Rick a commission – that’s the stickman family lawyers asking for that – not me.
Quick story. I had a gentleman that was highly recommended from my wife’s co-worker. He was from Trinidad and a very nice guy. Very respectful and worked extremely hard, did a professional job and everything was great. At one point he was mixing some old paint in the garage and he was very complimentary of our house. I told him it was great, but not what we needed right now with a baby and aging dogs (hardwood staircase in particular). Regardless, we started talking and he told me how he came to the U.S. to get treatment for his son who had a disease 11 years ago. He was in the process of building a house and had a great life in Trinidad, but his son needed the care, so he moved here. During his time here, he’s worked and sacrificed everything to support his family – even working to get an extra apartment so his children could go to the best high school in the area. He’s separated from his wife and his daughter (who was a straight A student) quit high school in her senior year. His son took off from college and works at the yacht club.
While I felt bad for this man, having sacrificed so much, he didn’t seem down, angry or bitter. He seemed determined. Determined to make it through – and on to the next thing. Whatever that was going to be. It came at a great time for me. It was inspirational. It made me take stock in my own personal life and everything I have. I’m grateful for a wonderful family, a great wife and young son. I have a good job and I am working on building one of my life long passions – making this webcomic. I’ve been working extremely hard over the last two years to improve this comic and I appreciate the people who stick around, comment and or share it with their friends.
So now, I’m re-energized. I’m looking forward to pouring every ounce of energy into this comic. I’m determined, inspired, and I am going to make it through.
Thanks for dropping by!
Ken

Talk about literally losing your head. Rick needs to keep it together and harness his alter ego side to his advantage. Talk about blowing it he sure did there.
Hey man thanks for posting Kylers art I showed it to him this morning before I left for work and he was happy that you liked it.
Man what an inspirational story about the gentleman from Trinidad. I’m a firm believer that God brings people into your lives at different moments to inspire you and to allow us in turn to be there for them. Such a humbling story, we are all so blessed to have our homes and families. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks Todd!
You realize that MY Kyler is going to have to step up his game in the next year and a half to match YOUR Kyler’s art and style!
I’m going home tonight and duct taping crayons to his hands: “DRAW SON, DRAW LIKE THE WIND!”
What up Kenard!!
Keep up ‘da good work!! How about a booth at NAPTE in Miami next year??
Marty Party! What’s up brotha! I think it’d be cheaper just to hang out with you down there – which I am sorely overdue for!!
Oh…almost forgot….that booth will be next to Rock ‘N Soul !!!!!!!!!!!!
I wonder whatever happened to that life-sized standup cutout we made!!
Reminds me of “Momma had a baby and her head popped off” Or were we the only kids to do that?
Ha – we did it too with daisies…or mostly anything. I was thinking of titling this something to that effect too!
