damndest Male Call

Good morning!

Last night I participated on the TGT Webcomics podcast with Kurt Sasso and Byron Wilkins of 1977 the Comic. Here it is in all it’s glory!!! Thanks to Kurt and Byron for being great hosts and I’m extremely grateful for the opportunity.

Some of the things we discussed:

  • Starting out a webcomic
  • The ‘AHA’ moment
  • My drawing/writing process
  • Comic/cultural influences
  • Audience participation
  • Learning from other webcomics
  • Business Buzzwords
  • Marketing/Branding
  • Lots of other webomics
  • Webcomic Planet Collective
  • WordPress/Comicpress

…and a spoiler!! Something you may or may want to know about what’s coming up for Milton – and Rick – and their love lives! *cue dramatic music*

Here’s the link on TGT’s site and here’s the link for iTunes.

Check it out – I had a lot of fun and have been invited to co-host future podcasts!! WOOOHOOO! I handled the English language!!

Thanks for dropping by!
Ken

Awesome job on the Podcast. I’m currently a little over an hour in to it, looking forward to the Spoilers. Great job again today on the strip, this is a really good arc in itself…can’t wait to see where this goes.

I tried sending the site out via Carrier Pigeon, but after using up a whole role of duct tape getting my laptop attached to the pigeon my wife suggested you probably wanted me to print it and send it, but by then the other pigeons had freaked out and rose up and revolted….not to mention I was late for work too, so instead I’m RT’ing and forwarding the emails instead.

I like the peace sign on the laptop, but one detail I really like in today’s is the last panel with the zipper on Milton’s backpack. As always great strip, great podcast last night….just great stuff.

Milton’s right though Rick, they don’t come actually in the mail everyone knows mail order brides come via Fed Ex. That reminds me of the time my dad ordered a mail order bride by mistake, he wanted to send a bribe via mail, but got a bit tounge tied during the process and mistakenly blurted out “mail order bride” instead of “mail out a bribe”. We call her Helga, even though she’s from Japan…but she is just shy of 7 feet tall, which is really unusual…but hey, he bought her so we love her.

Thanks RE: the podcast! I’m listening to it myself and I was wrong on my twitter last night – I stammered the whole time! Ugh. English language 331, Ken 0.

Carrier pigeon works, but you have to cut down the paper and roll it up before you tie it to their legs. If you don’t cut it down, they end up flying in circles – too much wind drag!!

7′ tall Helga from Japan? What type of accent does she have? Asian or slavic? Funny you mention the tongue tied part – I’ll be getting back to that in a similar manner in the next few weeks.

One thing I did miss today, maybe just mine, the Rick hover popup is not present. Unfortunately it looks like the drag to share has stopped working in Chrome again as well.

Could you imagine if they did come int he mail. Hope they drilled air holes

Usually they ship them in one of those over sized dog crates. Just to keep them from becoming ill with constant up and down of loading/unloading onto aircraft (or freighter depending on where they are sent from) they usually give them about a dozen Dramamine patches and put a curtain down over the front grate. :)

“My mail order bride has kennel cough…what’s your return policy?”

    • Ken Drab

Yeah Raul – I wonder what the postage would be (new way to travel).
