Blank Paper

damndest Blank Paper

Good morning!

Man alive. I just created this whole big 5 paragraph post and…it’s gone. Gone. GONE I SAY!!! Moving on…

So this week’s strips are building up to next week’s dark reveal… Actually for the first time, Rick won’t be directly in the strip for most of the week… I hope it’s as entertaining to read as it was to come up with. I will say this – by the end of next week, you will know the motives behind a certain someone – and it’s big.

So I mentioned recently that I joined a bunch of other webcomic artists in what’s called a collective – the WebcomicPlanet Collective to be precise. Basically we work together to help build up our audience, through sharing promotional ideas, and ad space among other things – hence all the new banners on the site. It’s extra work for each artist, but ideally we’ll grow quicker as a group rather than individually. Part of this is reviewing each other’s works and posting a blog about it. My first one will be around the end of the month – and to be honest, I’m genuinely excited about the comic I’m going to be reviewing because I honestly have been meaning to check out this strip for a while – it’s David Reddick’s ‘Legend of Bill‘. While David’s name may not roll off your tongue, you may have heard of the man he works for Jim Davis. Jim Davis – the creator of Garfield. Pretty cool – actually – VERY cool! If you’re up for it, head over to give ‘Legend of Bill‘ a shot as well (just promise to come back here every day) and tell him I sent ya!!

And this leads me to make a resolution for the rest of the year. I’m going to start reading a new webcomic every month and give it the entire month to really sink my teeth into it. Now I’m sure there will be some that I don’t continue with, but I think a month is giving a fair shake and I’m hoping to come away as a fan of some really great webcomics.

Finally today, I noticed I had a comment in the site’s spam filter. Low and behold it was from frequent poster – Todd. As it turns out, Todd tried to add RTS to Wikipedia. The post was deleted, probably because of the stench of mediocrity, but that’s not what’s important. The important thing here is that Todd went above and beyond. So much so, that we’re having someone look into his mental health! icon wink Blank Paper

Seriously – what a tremendous effort! It’s awesome for three reasons: first, it was unsolicited and that blows me away. Second, is that someone likes the strip enough to do that. Third, because IT WOULD BE REALLY FRICKEN COOL FOR RTS TO BE ON WIKIPEDIA! Thank you Todd, I really appreciate it – even though RTS’s not up there…YET! icon wink Blank Paper

That being said, I’d also like to thank RAlonzo for pimping RTS on his Facebook status earlier in the week. But he has to be nice to me – he works with me and I have unflattering photos of us doing Karaoke in a drunken stupor at our company XMas party!! icon wink Blank Paper Okay, so everyone else at work has those pics too…but…I can share them on MY SITE!!! WOOOHOOO!

Right now, I’m all warm and fuzzy inside because of the chili I had for dinner, but as soon as the heartburn wears off, I’m sure I’ll still feel good because of Todd and RAlonzo’s kindness. Thanks guys – keep up the good work – and sign your parents up for the strip! Hehe..

Have an awesome day folks, mine’s off to a GREAT start!
Ken

My wife has been worrying about my mental health for years. :) I’m still workin’ with Wikipedia to find a way to post it without them deleting it each time. There has to be a loop hole, and hopefully it’s not a noose. :) I sense someone attempting to take Rick’s identity, the hair, the picture, and now his signature. Good luck on the collective, I’ve really enjoyed checking out new webcomics, but as you requested I do continue to come back to RTS, or shall I say RTS continues to come back to me day after day in my inbox.

First I was like RTS ordered Fur. WHAT! Doesn’t he know FUR IS MURDER. Then I realized it was just the genius of mediocrity and annunciation fur us to get into the character. Awesome Job D-Rab. But fur your listeners I want them to know FUR IS MURDER. Now faux fur is like manslaughter or I don’t know faking a murder. Maybe an erroneous police report about a murder. Maybe its a squirrel or chinchilla faking its murder.
Now if furry animals where like lizards we could just cut off their tails and use the fur there then fur all intent and purpose it would only really be an assault. So then FUR IS ASSAULT wouldn’t be that bad. Well I digress. What as my original thought?

You know what isn’t murder Getting Rick The Stick in your email or RSS feed its rather easy. So I think my next twitter post will bet GET RICK THE STICK IT AINT MURDER, BUT FUR IS. I raise my glass to Mediocrity and RTS, sshhhh I’m drinking vodka at work (well that explains this post).

It may have happened, so far they haven’t deleted it. Check it out: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rick_the_Stick

I think I found the loop hole. :)

Crap….never mind, they deleted it again. Here’s the work in progress on another of their sites. It’s an open site free for edits from other users, so they are little less delete happy there.

I’ll find a way to get it on the main Wikipedia site yet. I’m going to contact some of the wikimedia users and see if I can create a link on wikipedia that will drop to Rick’s site.

I keep getting tagged as SPAM on this site I guess. I think it may be the hotlinks I’m putting in my comments. I had two comments today and now they aren’t showing up. The man is trying to keep Rick’s mediocrity from spreading. Drop me an email Ken and I’ll send you a link to the wikimedia site for RTS. Wikipedia continues to delete it every time I post it.

Well Wikipeida and Wikimedia sites continue to delete Rick the Stick. So far it’s staying up on comixpedia.org. From the Comixpedia.org home page you can do a search on “Rick the Stick” and you’ll see the page. I’m going to be working with Ken on making sure everything on there looks good and is promoting the site properly. Just think, the more viewers we get to this site the more viewers we get to the others, and the collective starts paying off. I have Rick on my Blog and have encouraged my family and friends to start checking it out.
