Good morning!

Things are super busy on the home front. I think the two weeks off are really going to re-energize me and the comic. I can’t wait to get ahead again. I miss commenting on other people’s comics. I still check them out, but I have to hit and run. Sorry folks. Things have gotten so busy and I am trying really hard to make this project I have going work that it’s my sole focus. My company has been really good to me and I definitely want to return the favor by creating something that does well. Hopefully I’ll get my head out of the weeds there too and I can get back to a sense of normalcy. It’s a bit cliché at this point, I see a lot of webcomic creators saying they are sooo busy. Well, throw my on that bus. I’m trying my darndest to keep it out of the blog – mostly because once I get my mouth going, it’s hard to stop.

Good morning,

Okay, so I learned a valuable lesson with yesterday’s post.

By putting nothing in the blog area, the comic won’t show up in the email feed. My apologies – if you missed it, you can click here to see it. If you did see it, hopefully your obliques are recovered from laughing so hard! Haha!

Okay, good. Moving on. Got a really good piece of fan art courtesy of Kyler McElmurry check it out. And he’s 23 years old. Give or take 20 years. Okay, I’m just teasing, he’s really talented for age 3 so hopefully we get more from Kyler!!

Seriously folks, I think he owes Rick a commission – that’s the stickman family lawyers asking for that – not me.

Quick story. I had a gentleman that was highly recommended from my wife’s co-worker. He was from Trinidad and a very nice guy. Very respectful and worked extremely hard, did a professional job and everything was great. At one point he was mixing some old paint in the garage and he was very complimentary of our house. I told him it was great, but not what we needed right now with a baby and aging dogs (hardwood staircase in particular). Regardless, we started talking and he told me how he came to the U.S. to get treatment for his son who had a disease 11 years ago. He was in the process of building a house and had a great life in Trinidad, but his son needed the care, so he moved here. During his time here, he’s worked and sacrificed everything to support his family – even working to get an extra apartment so his children could go to the best high school in the area. He’s separated from his wife and his daughter (who was a straight A student) quit high school in her senior year. His son took off from college and works at the yacht club.

While I felt bad for this man, having sacrificed so much, he didn’t seem down, angry or bitter. He seemed determined. Determined to make it through – and on to the next thing. Whatever that was going to be. It came at a great time for me. It was inspirational. It made me take stock in my own personal life and everything I have. I’m grateful for a wonderful family, a great wife and young son. I have a good job and I am working on building one of my life long passions – making this webcomic. I’ve been working extremely hard over the last two years to improve this comic and I appreciate the people who stick around, comment and or share it with their friends.

So now, I’m re-energized. I’m looking forward to pouring every ounce of energy into this comic. I’m determined, inspired, and I am going to make it through.

Good morning!

It’s Thursday and I was scheduled to get my new router from Verizon so I should be able to post regularly again shortly. I say “should”. You never know. That’s basically why I’m just getting this done Wednesday at lunch. If you see that sentence, you know my router upgrade didn’t go as planned. I’m back baby! Awesome!!

Regardless, looks like Ruby has Rick’s number with this gaming thing. Rick’s not accustomed to losing so this may get ugly.

Good morning!

Final week before Halloween and turning your clocks back an hour! I’m in a quandary over this week’s conclusion to the Candy Caper. The triplets have found Rick and they’ve got him out on a limb – literally and figuratively! I know where I want to go, but since there are only 5 strips (and after today 4) to get there. The problem is, after I’ve written and sketched them out, I’m not sure they’re good enough the way they are. Regardless, I’ll probably still be working on them until I post them. I hope you like them. It’s stereotypical these days to say “I’m hoping people won’t find out I’m a sham” and all, but that’s pretty much the feeling. Then again, I only promise 100% mediocrity so I’m starting off in Shamville!

As a reminder, next week I’m taking off from posting new comics. I’ll have sketches or some of the characters from what I’m calling the ‘30 in 30 Jam’. What is that? I’ve decided to join fellow webcomicker Rob Stenzinger of ArtGeekZoo.com and commit to the challenge set forth by Tyler James’ of ‘30 Characters in 30 Days’.

Good morning…

It’s Thursday. Crazy, crazy Thursday. One of the least heralded days of the week. Everyone hates Mondays. Tuesdays the other underappreciated day. Wednesday is Humpday somewhat celebrated because it means you’re half way through the week. Friday – got it’s own acronym. Saturday and Sunday, everybody loves. But this year, Thursday is a little different – especially as we get ready to close out the year.

We’re all aware that Thanksgiving falls on a Thursday, but two major holidays close out the year on Friday making Thursday, the stand-in last day of the week for most people. That’s right Xmas and New Years are both on Friday this year making Thursdays Xmas Eve and New Years Eve – in case you weren’t following along. Apologies to my friends of different faiths and the rest of the heathens. (Hanukkah (Chanukah) and Kwanza both start on a Saturday). There’s no set date for anarchists holidays.

Anyway, it’s Thursday and every Thursday, there’s a Rick the Stick. I’m not sure that’s a reason to celebrate, but it’s a reason to get up in the morning!! Now go out and attack the day. E pluribus unum…err…carpe diem…or is it gunga galunga… gunga, gunga-lagunga… Dah – pick one and go with it!!! Divide and conquer.
