Oooooooh Friday! Happy July 1st in Canada! I don’t know what you’re celebrating because I’m obviously too lazy to head over to Google+ to find out. But all I know is it’s conveniently close to our July 4th Independence Day celebration event here in the States. I’m guessing this is your way of one upping us? Fine. Have your July 1st holiday. Happy whatever it is. Okay?

I wonder what the cell phone usage while driving laws are in Murphywood. Dan certainly doesn’t have an issue using them while driving – oh wait. That was until he saw Rick… Does it look like his phone is propelled or thrown in the last panel?

Rick the Stick!

Despite his goofish appearance, Rick the Stick is a complex character! If you’re interested in getting into the real depth of a stickman, below is some of his character information. Just be careful and don’t study too much into his psyche – if you get in too deep, you may never recover!

Resides: Currently shares a bedroom with his cousin Milton.
Occupation: Student/Mascot SCUF
Lineage: Stickman – last remaining descendent of the original stickman.
Wants: To be rich, and stay rich without working to do it (receiving royalties from all stickfigure drawings – he’s already rich). Wants to be rid of Super Stickman
Fears: Work, kids, opening up to women, feelings, spiders, heights
Flaws:

Rick can be a jerk.
He cares more about himself than anyone else – on the surface.
He is quick to judge, make decisions and blame others for mistakes.
His sensitivity/tact switch is broken. He says the things we would like to say, he does the things we want to do – just not in the manner that’s appropriate.
He’s not good at understanding someone else’s viewpoint – or more specifically that they would have one different from his.

Money:

Rick’s a dreamer – he’s a sucker for get-rich-quick schemes.
He’s also really quick to abandon something that isn’t working or requires him to lift a finger.

Skipping the Good Parts

Good morning!

It’s Friday. Not only that – bonus! It’s Memorial Day Friday! Three day weekend!! WOOOHOOO! Summer’s here!!

Reminder. Rick the Stick will be off for the next two weeks (if I can stand it) and I will be back in full force starting Monday, June 14th! I’ve already gotten that week’s comics written and the following three weeks framed out – so I’m heading into the break with a full head of steam (some would argue no different from any other day – aka – steamhead).

I’ll give you a teaser of what’s coming up:

Rick sees some tough guys and is intimidated by their tattoos. He decides he knows what would make him tougher.
The economy’s been tough on a lot of people – the best they can afford is drawing stick figures – and you know who benefits from that (due to his inheritance)…you got it!
Rick decides he needs a pick-me-up and wanders into a ‘jabba bucks’ to see what the hub-bub is all about… Rick with some caffeine? What could go wrong?
