Wait. Are you allowed to talk about lawyers? Can I get sued? Is the first rule about lawyers that you don't talk about lawyers? No - that's something else. Glee club or something...Insulted Cliché

Good morning!

I’m sorry, I lied. I know I said I was going to take next week off, but I already wrote the next part of the story arc with Molly and I didn’t want to just leave it hanging there. Soooo, I’ll be jamming out another week before I take those two weeks off.

Also, one serious note. A friend of one of our most vocal friends of the strip has suffered a stroke and may be in serious trouble. Todd’s friend Shane and his wife are expecting this summer and I’m sure it’s hard on everyone involved. A friend of Todd’s is a friend of mine – please keep Shane and his family in your thoughts and if you can throw some karma points their way, I’m sure they could use it. Todd’s been posting updates on Twitter – you can find him @tmcelmurry or http://twitter.com/tmcelmurry/ Todd’s latest posts had the news on Shane as having had a massive stroke and lost the left side of his brain. He’s only 27 and in good health, so let’s hope he’s going to pull through as best he can.

Think well wishes,
Ken

Ken, thank you so much for mentioning the issues that Shane is facing. All the positive thoughts and prayers the family can get are very much appreciated. I have not heard any news as of yet this morning, but should know more in the next hour when they start allowing folks in to see him in ICU. It’s such a scary situation with a baby on the way for them, now his wife Nikki is stuck facing a challenge of taking care of their first born son and her husband. I just hope that as the swelling goes down and he starts to become more responsive we’ll see more motor skills showing up. As of right now when he’s awake he will raise and bend both legs, but still will not use the right arm other than catching it on a drop test. He still has yet to speak, we’re hoping most of that is due to the heavy sedation. Just please keep thinking and praying for them as they face the days and months ahead.

I think Rick was right the first time with Insult to Insult, cause that’s basically what happened, but with Rick’s many eggcorns and rewording of items I can understand where Milton is questionable about Rick’s real meaning.

Love the punchline, wonder how well it went over at home. :)

Speaking of Egg corns, I watched a new series last night called “The Good Guys” with Tom Hanks son as one of the main characters. His character last night was in trouble with the Police Sergeant because he had corrected the Police Chief in front of the Commissioner on his grammar and was in hot water. He corrected the Chief when the Chief had stated “Statue of Limitations” reminding him that the actual saying was “Statute of Limitations”. Once I heard that I immediately thought “Egg corn” and then immediately thought of Rick the Stick. Everything comes back to Rick. :)

Guys, just got news that Shane is doing tons better today. He’s still suffering from the effects of the stroke, no verbal abilities and very limited use of the right side, but he’s been alert most all day. He visually acknowledges folks when they walk in the room, and nods his head yes/no to questions. There is absolutely no traces of swelling in his brain at this point, so Praise the Lord for that. He will start speech therapy today, and on thru the weekend to try to help him relearn to phrase his words. He’ll also be starting some motor skill therapy for the right side that is still not functioning properly. Now it’s just a matter of retraining the brain to talk to the body with the portion that was not damaged.

So definitely continue lifting them up with positive thoughts and prayers as they start moving forward. As long as things stay positive the rest of today and tonight he will be out of ICU tomorrow and into a private room.
